Profile · The Strategist Analyst
Paul Kariri Ngugi
Forex trader, self-taught technologist and the operator behind YoungTrader KD, The Strategist Analyst and KD Digital Hub. Based in Naivasha, Kenya.

Executive summary
A disciplined learner, building in public
Paul Ngugi, known as KD, is a Kenyan trader and digital practitioner whose skills were built almost entirely through self-directed learning. His background combines four years of remote AI data work for global technology platforms, hands-on technical and web experience, and a forex trading practice that began in 2021.
He is not presented here as a finished professional or a market authority. He is a young operator learning the financial markets in the open, with a stated commitment to discipline, risk management and honest review. This site documents that process: what is being learned, how decisions are made, and where the standard is still being raised.

The name
Who is KD?
KD is Paul Ngugi’s nickname and the identity that runs through all of his work. Each platform has a defined role:
- YoungTrader KD is the home: the trading practice, the market analysis and the journal.
- The Strategist Analyst is the research and editorial desk that presents this work, including this profile.
- KD Digital Hub is the digital services practice: websites, online visibility and remote technical support.
Different platforms, one accountable operator: Paul Ngugi, who runs every channel personally.
Career path
How the skills were built
A practical record, assembled through work rather than formal instruction.
c. 2015 – 2020
First responsibility
At a gaming and movie shop in Naivasha, Paul was trusted from a young age to run the gaming station: serving customers, recommending and selling films, and keeping operations running. It was his first experience of commerce, customer service and working without supervision.
2020 – 2024
Remote AI data work
On the Neevo platform he completed AI training work: text and audio validation, text-to-speech evaluation, data classification and search-relevance assessment. It built research discipline, precision and fluency with AI tools, and showed that skilled work can be delivered remotely to a global market.
2021 – present
Financial markets
His first exposure to trading came through automated tools. He moved to manual technical analysis, studying market structure and Smart Money Concepts, and has used FTMO free trials to understand how professional evaluations assess risk rules and consistency.
2022 – present
Independent operator
Working independently as a trader and technology freelancer: computer troubleshooting, software and operating-system setup, website creation and data work. That service work is now organised under KD Digital Hub.
Trading practice
Instruments, timeframes and sessions
XAUUSD
Gold against the US Dollar.
AUDUSD
Australian Dollar against the US Dollar.
Timeframes and sessions
Technical analysis on the H4 and M15 timeframes, structured around the London and New York sessions.
Approach
Understanding the market, and understanding oneself
Paul treats trading as a continuous learning process in which self-understanding matters as much as reading price. Analysis begins with structure and ends with risk.
The learning phase, stated plainly. Over-trading, chasing losses and emotional decisions are well-documented weaknesses of developing traders, and Paul has faced each of them. His response has been structural rather than motivational: a written plan before each decision, risk defined in advance, and a journal that measures how well the process was followed.
I am still here.
“I continue to study, review, adapt and improve. The objective is not simply to become profitable, but to develop the discipline and systematic approach required for long-term performance.” — Paul Ngugi
The journal
Awareness, accountability and intentional decisions
Journaling sits at the centre of the process. It keeps Paul’s reasoning on record, makes his actions reviewable, exposes recurring behaviour and keeps intentions aligned with execution. The journal is a tool for awareness and accountability, not a showcase of results.
Shown as a record of process, not a guarantee of results.

Operating principles
How decisions are made
Failure is diagnostic
Every setback is treated as information: a knowledge gap, a behavioural weakness or a strategic error that, once understood, becomes the next lesson.
Process over outcome
Decisions are judged by whether the plan was followed, not only by the result. Good outcomes from poor process are not rewarded.
Learn, decide, share
Continuous learning across disciplines, conscious and deliberate decisions, and sharing what is learned with others on the same path.
“I am not where I want to be. But I am not where I was. And I know exactly where I am going.”
Objective
Consistency first
The immediate professional goal is consistency: the technical precision, emotional discipline and risk control required to meet professional evaluation standards and, in time, to trade a funded account. Success is defined as freedom of time and choice, not status.
Beyond trading, Paul intends to build technology-driven projects that draw on his AI, data and web experience. The journey is ongoing, and the standard remains improvement.
